Vote with your bike!

2 December 2007. Cardiff Council and the Harbour Authority are putting on a promotional bike ride across the Barrage to support Pont-y-Werin, in association with the Ely Bridge Campaign. You will have the rare opportunity to cross the barrage into the Bay, and then you can register to vote for Connect2 online in the Cardiff Bay visitor centre (the Tube). Refreshments will be provided, and all ages and abilities are welcome. To go from Penarth, meet 10 a.m. at the barrage car park, Penarth side. Otherwise, head straight for the Tube. Last return over the barrage to Penarth will be at 12.30 p.m.

The Hollybush ‘Gastroride’. Meet 10.00–10.15 on the Bute Park side of the Sophia Gardens footbridge. Heading out of Cardiff along the Wentloog Levels, we’ll cut northwards and inland. Pedal Power Christmas Fayre

1 December. 2–4 p.m. at Pedal Power’s new building in Pontcanna Caravan Park. Everybody is welcome to Pedal Power’s Christmas Fayre. It’s an opportunity see the new facility and support this local cycling charity. If you are unable to attend, but would like to donate cakes, old books, nearly new toys, or something for the Tombola, all will be gratefully received.

‘Keep Bute Park Open Later’ Petition

Cardiff Friends of the Earth have launched a campaign to press for a route through Bute Park to remain open until the early evening. If lighting were provided on the route from the Sophia Gardens footbridge to North Road, it is anticipated that commuting by foot or cycle would become viable for many more people.

Trevithick Bridge and Treforest Links. There’s a ride from Pentrebach (near Merthyr) to Treforest being organized by Rebecca Robinson of Sustrans to promote Connect2 links. Cycle Cardiff will be participating, but we’ll be starting very early from Cardiff to ride to the start. If you’re up for it, meet 9.00 a.m.(!) on the Bute Park side of the Sophia Gardens footbridge, or 9.25 a.m. outside the Lewis Arms in Treforest. Lunch in Pontypridd on the way back. Hard.
