Easy ride to Cardiff Bay. Meet 10.00–10.15 on the Bute Park side of the Sophia Gardens footbridge. We will use the traffic-free Taff Trail route until we reach the bay, where we shall have refreshments at the Norwegian Church and then return to Bute Park. Easy: 15 km (10 miles) and generally flat. Sunday 13 April – Ride report. Fifteen riders turned out for this very enjoyable jaunt out of Cardiff to this popular deli/farm shop near Peterstone-super-Ely. Chilli hot chocolate is clearly a big pull. There were a few stops along the way for pulling on and off waterproofs – it was proper April weather. Our only hiccup came when one rider rode through an puddle to discover that it contained a concealed pothole. With no harm done, except a temporarily misaligned saddle, we rode on to our destination.

Saturday 12 April – Ride report. Dave Webb and Robert safely led and expertly encouraged a group of five mountain bike novices across the Welsh ridges. Cycle Cardiff’s Bike Week planning meeting on Monday 7 has led to a pretty full calendar of rides and events. In fact, there were lots of excellent ideas that as yet we haven’t formally incorporated, but may yet do so. Bike Week 2008 has the theme of ‘bringing families together’ through cycling. The organizers also have a new partner in Nokia and a new official charity in Sports Relief. (more…)

Adult cyclists are being offered the chance to develop more cycling skills at a free one-day course run by Cardiff Council’s Road Safety Centre. The course will cover practical riding skills, knowledge of the Highway Code, basic cycle checks, and advice on the wearing of protective equipment. (more…)
