27 September 2007 Southerndown Ride Leader: Nick Canham The distance of approximately 55 miles - the longest yet in Cycle Cardiff's repertoire - did not deter a very enthusiastic bunch of cyclists (18 of us) setting off to the beach. Nick led us through the Vale of Glamorgan and Cowbridge towards Ogmore-on Sea on the loveliest of routes. After a quick chocolate bar stop at Ewenny's local shop we headed for Southerndown where we spent a fabulous time on the beach (or in the pub), with four intrepid cyclists braving the waters. We came back through Monk Nash and Llantwit, passing through some of the most delightful little villages and having a final tea stop at the Sportman's Rest in Peterstone. An excellent day out - and a personal best in terms of distance covered for several riders. Thanks Nick - a splendid day. Sheila Johnson
