28 January 2007 Llanerch Vineyard Ride report Leaders: Sheila Johnson & Marion Gray Although this ride's billing had suggested the destination was closed, it didn't prevent a good turnout for this one. Having met at Chapter, we headed out to Peterstone-super-Ely via St Fagans, then north to Pendoylan and Llanerch. In fact, the vineyard cafe turned out to be open, so we rewarded our efforts of cycling out into the wind with coffee, tea, and shortbread. The vineyard itself looks like an excellent destination in summer, when we might more convincingly make believe we're in Bordeaux or Rioja. It has gardens and managed woodland, and offers tours and tastings - perhaps a slightly dangerous option on two wheels! On the way back into Cardiff, Alastair led us on a slight detour around some traffic-free routes in Radyr that were unknown to most of us, linking up eventually with the Taff Trail near Llandaff.
